A water nymph falls in love with a man (Jakob Metzen) and becomes human, but her fate is sealed when he reveals his infidelity and decides to end their relationship. This is where the film begins. Undine tells Johannes (Machen) that if he leaves her, she will kill him to get rid of the curse alive. Are you looking for sites where you can download movies for free? Undine is at first a simple drama about a "blossoming romance", but as the mythical backstory is revealed we begin to see something much darker. Unfortunately, Petiolate does not reveal the protagonist's plight, but rather simplifies it, making the exploration feel superficial.
This is evident from the beginning of the film
Undine is pissed off. This is evident from the beginning of the film, as Paula Beer's facial expressions and visual cues show that we are following Undine's story in a modern setting. All of this is wonderful, but not enough to allow us to empathize with the protagonist's tormented psyche. When she learns that John has left her, she returns to work and is overwhelmed by a great anxiety. The audience needs to know how she will become involved in John's affair, how she will live in a world where she will soon die, or if she will have to do the unthinkable to survive and erase John's sins.
The film never reveals Enda's inner thoughts
We don't know much.
But what we see from the outside has made him weak. If it were a performance of
the characters, all would be well, but the film never reveals Enda's inner
thoughts. Therefore, the relationship between Undine and Christoph seems
incredibly cold and distant to the viewer, because we never get to know their
true feelings. For example, Christophe suffers a life-threatening accident that
puts Undine in danger. He then has to kill Johannes, who has once again fallen
victim to the spell. In a moment of total torment, when Undine must do the
unthinkable to survive, we only have access to her external thoughts.
The film is empty and does very little
The outer thoughts are only half of what the audience needs to understand about the character. To fully portray the emotions of the same character, we need his inner thoughts. Otherwise, the film is empty and does very little. Petrol thinks he's doing something truly great when he implicitly shares his characters' outer thoughts, but he forgets the most important thing that makes the best characters in film history great: what they feel inside. He doesn't need to explain these things. Sometimes it's implied. Undine's mythic story has already been told implicitly. An audience with expert knowledge or even previous research on the subject can understand the film's implied message better than a viewer who doesn't know who Undine is or what the film is based on
Understand the main points of the story
For an audience unfamiliar with the mythological theme, the implied message is the only way to tell the whole story. Although I didn't know Undine well enough to understand the main points of the story, Petiolate was certainly able to convey Undine's and Christoph's many inner thoughts with the same unflinching discretion with which he presents his characters.
This
is accentuated even more in the scene
Some would say that Undine is a film about emotions and that we should feel the raw love between Undine and Christoph. But there isn't a single moment when their relationship fits, or when a legitimate human connection is established between them where we say to ourselves, "Ah!" There is not a single moment when their relationship does not fit together, or when a legitimate human bond is not established between them where we say: "Aha! Undine is not human and her relationship with Christophe is completely unnatural. This is accentuated even more in the scene where we hear all the versions and covers of the Bee Gees' Stayin'. When Christophe is revived, we hear Alive in the rhythm of the song. His interactions with Christophe are not necessarily human - they seem very distant and cold (as I mentioned above), which is probably a good thing because they don't even humanly express human emotions.
Undine than for the relationship as a whole
This is the most frustrating thing about Undine: we only get
to see half of the whole. Yes, Paula Beer and Franz Rogowski are wonderful. I
especially liked Rogowski, who wakes up from a coma when he is awakened by
Undine's aura and thinks only of her. If your want to download and watch free
movies you can visit themoviesflix. He screams with grief and searches for Undine - she seems
to have disappeared from the world. Unfortunately, the film is more interesting
for Kristof's desire to find Undine than for the relationship as a whole.
